Good day. Similar to FAR RESH, I was able to use the uninstall (although from many attempts to do so). The program no longer showed in the list of program but still continued to be activated. After running many adware/malware apps including the ones you recommended, it appeared to have stopped. I also have no files or extensions in my chrome or explorer browser as you suggest to look in. However, when I run a search of "websteroids" in my computer directories, the results return approx. 20 files with the word "websteroids" in the title of the file. Some are .dll, ., , , and so on. Should I simply delete those?
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
The problem: To completely uninstall Websteroids is not always that simple, the default uninstaller that came with the program always fails to remove all the components of Websteroids. For example, the registry entries that created during the program installation are always left inside the computer even you perform the regular removal, also, leftovers may include installation folder, temporary files, cache files, etc. To manually find out and remove these leftovers is not only tedious but also a risk-involved task since you need to reach the registry editor and sort out the unwanted entries or keys of the target program, and then remove them one by one, sounds easy, isn’t it? Well, the fact is, Windows registry is a place that you don’t want to mess up, an straightforward example, if you mistakenly delete a wrong key/entry, some of the program in your computer may stop working, it may even result in system malfunction.
Once installed, the Websteroids browser extension will highlight words on the websites that you are visiting transforming them into hyperlinks. These Websteroids links are placed inside your text (hence the name), and they come with a double underline to differentiate them from normal links. Once the user rolls the mouse over the link the advertising will pop. Should the user click on the Websteroids links the browser extension developer will get an affiliate revenue.
Websteroids will also display advertising banners on the webpages that you are visiting, and as you browse Internet, it will show coupons and other deals available on different websites.
